MEDIUM            (SHORT GREEN)
SHORT                (ORANGE)
BEGINNERS       (YELLOW/WHITE)

Scoring

Each age group category can enter any course to score league points apart from Junior Women, Veteran Women and Super Veteran Women, who can only score maximum points on the Medium course.  Junior Women, Veteran Women, Super Veteran Women, Ultra Veteran Women  and Ultra Veteran Men who enter the Long course will not score league points.

The scoring system is sub-divided on each course so that you only compete against those in the same age group category as yourself.  The winner of the long course will receive 100 points, with second place 99 points, third place 98 points and so on.

To score points in the YHOA Night League, you have to be a member of one of the YHOA clubs.

If you Plan, Organise, or Control an YHOA Night League event, at the end of the series you will receive the average of your scores as the score for the event you officiated at, unless you actually ran and then you receive the score according to you position on the night.

The Night League season covers Autumn of one year to Spring of the following year and some competitors will change YHOA age group categories in that time.  When this happens the competitor will stay in the YHOA age group category that they started the night league season in, until the end of the series.

Normally the YHOA Night League is made up of 6 events in the season, one from each YHOA club.  This may vary but the League Coordinator will publish the events included at the start of the season. If there are 6 events then the best 3 results will count for an individual final score.  (This was 4 but reduced to 3 to increase competitiveness).  If there are only 5 events then it will still be the best 3 scores to count.

In the event of a tie then the person with the most wins will be the winner. If that doesn’t separate them, then the person with the most 2nd places, if that doesn’t separate them then the most 3rd places, and so on.  If that doesn’t separate them then it is the person who won or was the most highly placed in the last event that both competed in.

If a score event is used for the YHOA Night League, we will endeavour to ensure that there are 3 different score courses, Long Score, Medium Score and Short Score, with the points allocated as above for Long, Medium and Short.

If a competitor starts a race but does not finish because of a mis-punch, retirement, etc. then they will receive one less point than the lowest score for competitors who have completed  courses.
